FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How credits work, what happens when a generation fails, how face photos and references are handled, and how payments and cancellations work.

General

What is Thumbora?

Thumbora is an AI studio for YouTube thumbnails. You describe a video, optionally add photos of yourself or reference thumbnails, and get several 16:9 images to compare. You can fix details with an AI edit or in the built-in editor, keep every version in a project and export PNG, JPG or WebP.

Which languages are supported?

The interface is available in Ukrainian, English and Russian. Prompts and thumbnail text can be written in these and other languages; rendered text looks best when it is short.

Credits

How do credits work?

Every generated image costs a fixed number of credits that depends on the model, the resolution and the mode, and the generator shows the exact total before you start. Paid plans include credits every month, and you can also buy one-time credit packs. New accounts get free credits to try the service.

What happens to my credits if a generation fails?

Credits are reserved when a generation starts and charged only for images that are delivered. If an image fails, times out, is blocked by the AI provider’s safety filter or is cancelled while it is still in the queue, its credits return to your balance automatically — you don’t need to contact support.

Do credits expire?

Subscription credits are granted every month and are valid until the end of that billing month — unused subscription credits don’t carry over. Credits from one-time packs don’t expire, and the validity of sign-up credits is shown on the pricing page. When you have credits from several sources, the ones that expire first are used first.

Generation and quality

How long does a generation take?

Usually from a few seconds to about two minutes per image, depending on the model and the resolution. Generations run in the background, so you can close the tab — you’ll get a notification, and an email if you enabled it, when they finish.

Which resolutions are available? Is the 4K real?

Images are generated at 1K, 2K or 4K, depending on the model and your plan, always in 16:9. You can export the original size, 1280×720 or 2560×1440. If you export at a size larger than the generated image, Thumbora upscales it and labels the file as upscaled: upscaling makes the file bigger but doesn’t add real detail. For YouTube, 1280×720 is enough.

What if the text on the thumbnail has a mistake?

AI models usually render short headlines well, but letters can sometimes be distorted, especially in long phrases. Keep the text short, check it, and fix it with an AI edit (for example, “change the text to …”) or with a text layer in the editor.

Privacy, faces and rights

Can I use my own face on thumbnails?

Yes. Create an identity profile with a few clear photos of yourself. They are used only as references for your generations; the model keeps the likeness as closely as it can, but results can differ. You confirm consent for every face upload, and you may upload another person’s photos only with their explicit permission. Photos and profiles can be deleted at any time.

Can I use other creators’ thumbnails as references?

You can use a thumbnail as inspiration for composition, colors, lighting or style — Thumbora creates a new image rather than copying it. Upload only images you have the right to use, and don’t ask the AI to reproduce logos, characters or recognizable people without permission. You are responsible for what you upload and publish.

Can I use the thumbnails commercially?

Yes. You can use the images you create for your own channels and for your clients, subject to our Terms of Use and to the rights in anything you uploaded. Similar images can be generated for other users, so we don’t guarantee uniqueness, and in some countries AI-generated images have limited copyright protection.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete individual files, identity profiles and projects at any time. You can also delete your whole account in the settings: your profile is anonymized and your files are deleted. Payment records and credit history are kept for the period required by accounting and tax law. For any other request about your data, write to support.

Payments and subscriptions

How can I pay?

Payments are processed by WayForPay on its secure payment page, where the available methods are shown — cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Thumbora never receives your full card number. Credits and subscriptions are activated only after WayForPay confirms the payment.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open Billing and cancel the subscription. The plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and no further charges are made. You can resume it before the period ends or choose another plan later.

Can I get my money back?

Credits for failed generations are returned automatically. For money refunds — for example, for a credit pack or a subscription period you haven’t used — see the Refund Policy and contact support. Refunds are sent to the original payment method through WayForPay.
